Our Rotary Youth Exchange students have arrived home after their year away.

"Dear friends,

Anna will live us early tomorrow morning. We can say that she was a great student Exchange, one of whose we don’t forget. She did an amazing job and everyone loves her here!

Thank you for sending us Anna. Lots of tears...

Happy New Year to all of you and your families.

Cheers
Isabelle"

Before Christmas we received the good news from Denmark that our outbound student (Ella Fraser, sponsored by Whangarei Sunrise) had received their District Chair's award for outstanding work.   Below is the translated text of her award:

Your club Hjørring west Rotary club and your host families have nominated you for this year's outstanding exchange student. Your club decided to nominate you for this prize because you have gone the extra mile to have a good stay and experience in Denmark, one that you will surely remember for many years to come. Your counsellor wrote in your nomination how you have been very active in your club and host families and built strong bonds with your families and friends that you will keep for many years. You have created a strong friendship among your classmates at your school as well. District 1440 congratulates you on your award and wishes you all the best in the future.

Outbound student to Seattle, USA (Quinn Klijn, sponsored by North Harbour), received a citizenship award from his school. Below is the text of the letter Quin received from his school

Dear Quinn Klijn,
Congratulations! You have been selected as an “Outstanding T-Bird”.
This award is conferred by teachers and school staff who wish to recognise the special efforts, contributions and accomplishments of Shorewood students.
On Friday – December 6th, you will be presented with a Certificate along with a Shorewood High School keychain at our continental breakfast to include the other award winners and nominating teachers. Breakfast will run from 7.00am-7.30am in the School Library. Parents/Guardians are also invited to join in this moment and enjoy continental breakfast with our compliments. Please plan to attend.
The nominating letters attested to the citizenship, sincerity and congeniality of the students receiving the awards. The ”Outstanding T-Birds” are models for other students and greatly valued and appreciated by the Shorewood Staff. We’re proud of you!
Sincerely
Nancy Elder
